Exercise is Queen, Rest is King

The grand glyph of the Tree of Life is separated by 3 three pillars or paths. Facing the glyph the left side of the Tree is called the pillar of severity, or the operations of segregation. On this path lie the planetary spheres and corresponding intelligences of Saturn, Mars and Mercury. Mars is our primary focus, at least on this blog, however Saturn as it sets limits and duration and Mercury that intellectually dissects and applies ration action are vital to a successful workout program in the microcosm and for a successful life in the macrocosm. The Middle path on the Tree is so named "Middle Path" or Pillar of equilibrium. Along this road re the planetary addresses of Uranus, The Sun, The Moon and Earth, while the connecting road between Mars and Jupiter runs directly above the realm of the Sun there is a powerful mystery inherit between the three (Mars Sun and Jupiter) and that path between Mars and Jupiter is aptly named strength. Uranus is the all potential that you could be, The Sun is the force of personality/ego you project, the Moon is your dreams and wishes, the astral world and the Earth is where are are, the physical realm where things become real, and "work" is done. The right side of the Tree houses Neptune, Jupiter and Venus. Neptune the vital force of animating life energy, Jupiter the assimilator and mediating intelligence and Venus, the raw emotional color to the black and white of Mercury's rational mind, the right or Pillar of Mildness is also call the road of acclimation and acquisition.
Now there is "gender" roles applied to these paths. One might be surprised to find that the left side or path of severity is attributed to the female energy and the right side governed by masculine effects. As strange as this sounds it makes a great deal of sense as is what each energy of polarity holds for the other. It was the lady of the lake that gave King Arther the great Sword of Excalibur, the Supernal Mother aspect of Saturn giving the Mars aspect to a man to both defend and take life. There are many other examples but for now that will suffice.
Interesting to note that the Mars energy which is the force that breaks down and separates and creates tears and injures the muscles through use of force and applied violence which is held in a female polarity can only be healed by the masculine force of mediation and repair, strengthening the bonds of muscle and sinew, growing them back stronger and thicker requiring more force or violence to tear them apart again which is turn would bring them back together stronger by Jupiter once more.
Rest is essential. NO healing can happen without the appropriate time of rest and renewal. Healing is necessitated by injury, the wicked barb of Mars spurning you out of complacency. To find comfort again one must nurse this wound, must spend time in contemplation and reflection, to govern his or her body back together, solve the immediate separation and unite the divide back stronger then before like a king would mediate between slighted factions of his kingdom, so to must your muscles and sinews be knitted back into a solid community.
Mars and Jupiter can also be viewed as times of war and peace. The days I train, and I train HARD, I satisfy this destructive need inside me, the need to lay waste to my own inner enemies. On my rest days, I am hosting inner celebrations of hero feasts and may pole dances to enjoy the spoils of war and share in the abundance of my efforts.
Treat you training days like a day in the field of battle, you will win, but there is will be blood and sweat is your wake. One your days off, rest and celebrate, pay homage to your inner Queens and Kings, abide in the pleasures of peace and reveal on in the action and expression of war.
